Never Again for any Nation

Happy Sunday my Dear Readers! Today I'm coming to you from a small and silent square close to the New Fortress of Corfu Island. It's an absolutely calm and cute place with a few greek tavernas and many beautiful trees around. If you watch carefully at the pictures, you will find a Monument with one family. At the memorial is a text: Never again for any nation. Dedicated to the memory of the 2000 Jews of Corfu who perished in the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau in June 1944.

This naked Family represents the Jews of Corfu who were murdered by the Nazi during World War. There was no place for the Jews to escape and very few survived the concentration camps. The bronze Holocaust memorial consists of a nude group: a woman cradling an infant and a man seemingly helpless to protect a boy who hides his face in the man’s thigh. Sculpture was created by Georgios Karahalios and was erected in 2001 by the city and the Jewish community.

I can say that it's one of the most unvisited monuments of Corfu and I would love to see more people there. If you will be in Corfu I would be very happy if you listen my advice and come here as a sign of respect and understanding.

Well there are days when we explore new places, walking in Old Town and visiting unusual spots. But there is never a day when we not stay cute and cozy in our style, conversations and stories. My chihuahua Dominikos was wearing a Colorful Rainbow Shirt. By the way, today he has became daddy of 4 beautiful puppies and there are no words to express how proud I am of my boy and his cute little family. We are waiting to meet the puppies and I will share with you a little story about it in Easter Holidays.
