The Magnificent Liston

After 10 days of silence on Shiny Honey I'm coming to you with a new blog post about the place I've visited many times in the last two weeks. I'm speaking about the most popular and beautiful street of Corfu Town - The Magnificent Liston. With its vaulted galleries, archways and hanging lanterns the Liston was constructed in 1807. It was designed by the French Engineer Lesseps, to be a copy in miniature of the rue de Rivoli in Paris. It is an excellent example of architecture from Napoleonic period, when Corfu was part of the First French Empire.

As a Corfu citizen I can tell that the Liston is located in the heart of Corfu Island. Nowadays it's a home to a range of coffee shops and restaurants. However when first constructed only the noblemen, the Libro D’ Oro, were allowed to enter and walk along the street and under the arches. Simply speaking, it was an extremely elite area. During the summer season there are a lot of tourists come to see this place everyday. But lucky me, all winter season long I can enjoy lonely, calm and charming Liston without any disquiet and noise.

There is an endless rain in the island all day and night and I really can't wait till it will finish and sun will go out again. Local weather brings my outfits in a cozy mood with a lot comfy clothes, warm coats, scarves and sweaters. Rhythm of Corfu is slow and simple in February - all people hide in their houses, drink coffee and wait for the Easter to come.

First look I would like to share with you is from the day when we had works to do in the town and made one fast walk too. I was wearing Checked White & Grey Coat, Sweater with Denim and my new Velvet Sneakers from Asos. The feeling of comfort wasn't leaving me all day long.

The second look is from Saint Valentine's Day, when we went out to the town to spend some nice time with each other. We were drinking coffee, eating cupcakes and listening jazz in our favorite The Old Times Cafe & Bistro. Actually I've planned to wear a skirt and over the knee boots, but it was pretty cold. That's why I decided to keep it more casual - I added a warm scarf, teddy sneakers and my favorite hat. To keep the final result a little bit more colorful and bright I've styled the pink sweater and wore some lipstick. We had so much fun in Corfu by walking in local streets, enjoying the nice atmosphere and beautiful places. I will tell you a secret - this kind of St. Valentine's Day suits me so well. It was nice, romantic and very relaxed.
